Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) raised concerns over the Asia Cup being held in India which pushed the ACC to change the venue to UAE instead.
There will be six teams participating in this year’s Asia Cup:
Asia Cup will take place from 18th to 30th September in Abu Dhabi and Dubai
- Afghanistan
- Bangladesh
- India
- Pakistan
- Sri Lanka
- Qualifier Team*
*The Qualifier Team would include either one of Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Singapore or UAE — their matches will be held from 13th September to 18th September.
Pakistan-India Fixtures
According to the details of the competition, Pakistan will take on India on 21st September.
If the Qualifier Team fails to beat both India and Pakistan then the arch-rivals will again go head-to-head on 27th September.
Granted that both teams play the match on the 27th, then a Pak-Ind final can also take place!
Asia Cup 2018 Format
The tournament will commence with a Group Stage and following that will be a Super 4 round before the grand finale.
Unlike the last time around, this year’s Asia Cup will go back to being a 50-over competition.
Bonus point system is also likely to be introduced this year. However, there has been no official statement regarding that.
